Ever seen toddlers roar like lions, march like superheroes, or create their own American flags? That’s just a glimpse into July at Creative Corner! Our new curriculum takes children on a journey through patriotic celebrations, wild animal discoveries, and imaginative superhero tales. Each day is filled with themed learning moments, messy fun, and unforgettable preschool adventures.

What’s Happening in July at Creative Corner?

This month, our curriculum is centered around five exciting themes designed especially for preschoolers and toddlers. Each theme includes rich conversations, sensory crafts, science experiments, and physical movement that help children build essential skills while having fun.

Creative Corner July Curriculum Stars and Stripes

Theme: Stars & Stripes

Children learn the colors and symbols of the American flag and discuss what it means to show respect. They create their own paper flag by coloring stripes and adding stars.

🧪 Experiment: “Fizzy Fireworks” – Using baking soda, vinegar, and food coloring, children watch red, white, and blue “fireworks” bubble up in a fun sensory-safe experiment.

🏃 Let’s Move: Jump up and down in time with pretend fireworks!

Creative Corner July Curriculum Wild Safari Expedition

Theme: Wild Safari Expedition

Over three lessons, children explore the jungle taking a long look at giraffes, a heavy glance at elephants, and a deep dive into hippos! Where they live, what they look like, and how do they move are some of the questions we explore.

Giraffe

Children color and cut out a giraffe, then attach clothespins for legs. We talk about where giraffes live, how they eat, and how they blend into their surroundings.

🧪 Experiment: “Giraffe Neck Challenge” – Children test how a “long neck” helps reach food placed up high using simple tools like straws and cups.

🏃 Let’s Move: Stretch up high to be as tall as a giraffe!

Elephant

Children create elephant puppets using paper bags and tissue paper. We explore where elephants live and what they eat.

🧪 Experiment: Elephant Toothpaste – A bubbly, foamy mixture (safe for observation only) that mimics a giant squirt of toothpaste from an elephant trunk!

🏃 Let’s Move: Wiggle around like a baby elephant learning to walk!

Hippopotamus

Children make a hippo with oatmeal-sprinkled skin and button nostrils. They learn how hippos spend time in water to stay cool.

🧪 Experiment: Invisible Salt – Salt disappears into water as a visual demonstration, helping kids understand how materials can dissolve.

🏃 Let’s Move: Jump and stomp like an excited hippo!

Creative Corner July Curriculum Superhero Adventures

Theme: Superhero Adventures

Over three lessons, children explore pretend play through superheroes, discussing names, powers, costumes, and acts of kindness.

Pretend Superheroes

Children draw and color their own superhero, then describe what their powers would be.

🧪 Experiment: Which materials collapse under pressure? Children place books on top of various materials to test their superhero “strength.”

🏃 Let’s Move: Stretch up to the sky like you are about to fly into the wild blue yonder!

Superhero Shields

Kids make and decorate their own superhero shield to defend the city until nap time.

🧪 Experiment: Test different materials to see which would make their shields waterproof—a real hero test!

🏃 Let’s Move: Wiggle! Wiggle around like a superhero dodging bullets!

Superhero Capes

Children design a cape and learn how static electricity makes balloons “stick.”

🧪 Experiment: Rub balloons on fabric and explore the magic of static cling.

🏃 Let’s Move: Pretend to jump rope so you can make your legs super strong!

Creative Corner July Curriculum Deep Sea Divers

Theme: Deep Sea Divers

Over three lessons, children dive into the wonders of the deep sea, discovering creatures like the octopus and pufferfish, and even exploring how submarines help us learn about ocean life.

Octopus

Children learn all about the octopus, their tentacles, and ink, while they make and color an octopus out of paper with eight long tentacles.

🧪 Experiment: “Disappearing Octopus Ink” – Add drops of food coloring to water to see how the “ink” spreads.

🏃 Let’s Move: Stretch! Stretch as long as the tentacles of a giant octopus!

Pufferfish

Children learn about what makes the pufferfish so unique, while making and coloring their own pufferfish with 3D fins.

🧪 Experiment: “Expanding Sponge Pufferfish” – Slowly add more and more water to a sponge and watch it expand, just like a pufferfish.

🏃 Let’s Move: Time to wiggle like a pufferfish pushing itself into soft sand to hide or rest!

Submarine

Children find out submarines and what they’re used for, while coloring their own submarines and surrounding them with underwater fish and seaweed.

🧪 Experiment: “Sink and Float Submarine” – Please an empty bottle on water to simulate a submarine on the surface, then add water to the bottle to show how it sinks.

🏃 Let’s Move: Pretend to jump rope like sailors exercising!

Theme: Amazing Animal Homes

Over two lessons, children explore the cozy world of animal homes, discovering how bees build their hives and how foxes stay warm and safe inside their dens.

Bee Hive

Children learn about what makes the bee hive a special home to bees, while making and coloring their own paper bee hives with flying bees.

🧪 Experiment: “Honey Bee Honey” – Use a sponge and sugar water to simulate collecting and storing honey.

🏃 Let’s Move: Stretch up high like a bear trying to reach a bee hive to get all the yummy honey!

Fox Den

Children learn about the cozy fox den where baby foxes live until they are ready to explore the world. Children get to make and color their own fox in a fox den.

🧪 Experiment: “Warm Winter Fox” – Use freezer bags, butter, and cold water to learn how fat keeps animals like a fox warm in the winter.

🏃 Let’s Move: Wiggle! Wiggle around like baby foxes exploring the den!

Building More Than Skills—Creating Memories

What makes the curriculum at Creative Corner special isn’t just the science experiments or colorful crafts—it’s the joyful connection and curiosity we foster in every child. From waving paper flags to stomping like elephants, each activity strengthens fine motor skills, early science concepts, gross motor coordination, and self-expression.

But beyond academic growth, we believe in something deeper: helping children feel seen, loved, and safe. Our curriculum taps into the magic of meaningful moments, where learning and laughter go hand in hand.

This July, our preschoolers aren’t just “doing activities”—they’re becoming explorers, artists, scientists, and superheroes. And through it all, they’re creating memories that will stay with them for a lifetime.
