Ever seen preschoolers light up when they hear their favorite stories, count proudly to three, or beam as they share what makes them special? That’s the magic of September at Creative Corner! Under our Fall In Love With Learning umbrella, children dive into shapes and colors, soar through ABC & 123 adventures, and celebrate family, friends, and storybook favorites. From apple harvest fun with Johnny Appleseed to the wonder of experiments with letters, each day is brimming with hands-on discovery, playful learning, and unforgettable preschool moments.

What’s Happening in September at Creative Corner?

This month, our curriculum falls perfectly into place with five exciting themes designed especially for preschoolers and toddlers. From shapes and colors to ABCs, 123s, family celebrations, storybook adventures, orchard harvest fun, and even the nighttime sky—each theme is packed with rich conversations, sensory crafts, science experiments, and playful movement. Together, they help children build essential skills while discovering the joy of learning.

Fall in Love with Learning: Shapes

Theme: Shapes in the Spotlight

Over two lessons, children explore the world of shapes, starting with circles and sunflowers. They’ll learn how shapes can roll, balance, and appear all around us in nature and everyday life.

Learn About Sunflowers

🌻 Children discover the beauty of sunflowers and how their round shapes stand tall in nature. They create and color their own sunflower craft.

🧪 Experiment: Observe Sunflowers — Watch and see if sunflowers follow the sun throughout the day.

Theme: Brilliant Blue Adventures

Children dive into the color blue, discovering it in their clothing, the sky, and the world around them.

Color Blue

👖 Children color their own pair of blue jeans while practicing fine motor skills.

🧪 Experiment: Blue Water Walking — Set up two cups with water and watch as blue water “walks” from one cup to the next.

Theme: ABC & 123 Explorers

Over several lessons, children begin their journey with letters, numbers, and sequencing, building the foundation for early literacy and math.

Letters A, B & C

🔤 Children practice tracing and coloring the first three letters of the alphabet.

🧪 Experiments:

  • 🍎 Apples Turning Brown (Part 1) — Watch to see which apple slice turns brown.

  • 🫧 Bubbles — Use a straw to blow bubbles into soap water.

  • ☁️ Cloud in a Jar — Create a cloud in a jar using warm water, ice, and hairspray.

Numbers 1, 2 & 3

🔢 Children color and trace the numbers 1, 2, and 3 while practicing counting aloud.

🧪 Experiments:

  • 🧊 Melting Ice Cubes — Place ice cubes in different areas to see which melts first.

  • 🌈 Two-Color Mixing — Mix different colors and observe the changes.

  • 🧂 Salty Ice — Sprinkle salt on ice to explore how it melts faster.

Math: Sequencing

🖼️ Children learn to order objects and events by coloring and sequencing pictures.

🧪 Experiment: Musical Jars — Fill jars with varying amounts of water and discover how sound changes with water levels.

Theme: Family & Friends Celebration

This theme celebrates the special people in children’s lives while encouraging self-expression and self-worth.

Grandparents’ Day

❤️ Children create special artwork to give as a gift for their grandparents.

🧪 Experiment: Fingerprints (Part 1) — Learn how to collect and compare different fingerprints.

Caring, Sharing & Being Me: What Makes Me Special

☝️ Children reflect on what makes them unique and share their qualities with others. They create a cloud craft displaying their special traits.

🧪 Experiment: Fingerprints (Part 2) — Use ink to create a print of each child’s fingerprints.

Fall in Love with Learning: Storytime

Theme: Storytime Adventures

Children explore favorite stories, authors, and characters while connecting books to nature and hands-on learning.

Favorite Children’s Authors: Hungry Caterpillar

🐛 Children create a story wheel to retell “The Very Hungry Caterpillar.”

🧪 Experiment: Leaf Observations — Use magnifying glasses to study different types of leaves.

Johnny Appleseed

🍎 Children hear the story of Johnny Appleseed and create their own Johnny puppet.

🧪 Experiment: Apples Turning Brown (Part 2) — Continue observing which apple slices turn brown.

Fall in Love With Learning—Growing Skills & Hearts

At Creative Corner, September is more than tracing letters or mixing colors—it’s about sparking curiosity and celebrating each child’s unique story. From watching sunflowers follow the sun to sequencing musical jars, every lesson blends hands-on discovery with joyful play.

But beyond early literacy and math skills, our focus is on connection—sharing special art with grandparents, exploring what makes each child one-of-a-kind, and laughing together through storytime adventures.

This fall, our preschoolers aren’t just “learning numbers and letters”—they’re becoming scientists, storytellers, gardeners, and friends. And with every circle they roll, every apple they test, and every fingerprint they stamp, they’re building memories and confidence that will last a lifetime.

Final Thoughts for Parents

We’re so thankful to have you as part of our Creative Corner family. Thank you for trusting us with your child’s early learning journey. Our September curriculum is designed to spark curiosity, build confidence, and nurture joy. Whether it’s watching sunflowers stretch toward the sun, proudly tracing their very first letters, or creating special art for grandparents, our students are learning and growing in meaningful ways.

Together, let’s keep making memories—one circle rolled, apple observed, and story shared at a time.
