Why Parents Should Play with Their Preschoolers
Is your preschooler constantly asking questions and getting into “interesting” situations? This could be their way of asking you to share a bit more of your time with them, something that can be a challenge in today’s fast-paced world. Children of this age crave time with their parents and older siblings, and it is a great opportunity to bond with your child while teaching skills that will be an integral part of their life for years to come.
Relax and Spend Time Together
Some days are stressful or frustrating, simply stopping and playing with your preschooler may provide you with the rest and peace that you need to let your everyday cares float away. As we grow up, we often forget the simple joy of playtime, and enjoying moments with your preschooler can help you regain that lost time of fun and laughter.
Developing Vital Movement Skills
Your preschooler is still very much learning how to move their bodies and having someone to actively mimic can help refine their movements and fine motor skills. Children need to be physically literate in order to be successful throughout their lives. Early skill development during this period of rapid growth can help them retain these movements throughout their lives.
Physical Activity / Playtime = Good Grades?
You might be surprised to learn that play time and physical activity from an early age has been linked with higher academic achievement later in life. The latest research shows that learning through play and exploration is more fruitful than focusing on strict academic curriculum. Whether you’re taking time out to dig in the garden, play a game of tag, have a dance party or explore nature with your little ones, the fresh air, hands on experience and feeling of teamwork can help boost confidence and trust in their knowledge throughout their school careers.
Creating a nurturing and creative world for your children doesn’t have to be expensive or time-consuming. Many times, they are happy simply to have someone near who can share their imagination and joy in the everyday small components of life.
